About a week ago my shift lever went limp while I was riding. I wasn't able to downshift until I figured out that I needed to lift the lever slightly first. I carefully rode home and talked to a friend about it. He said that it sounded like one of the springs broke.
Well $5 later I had a new spring about about an hour later I had installed it. Extremely simple fix. Just thought I'd share the story and pics of the broken spring.
Here are the two halves. I'm thinking about turning it into a necklace for fun.
That's a pretty wicked looking breakline
And its much thanks to the forum and the bike manuals that I was able to find the part and replace it so easily!
