Signal wiring diagram question

Looking at the wiring diagram for my 82 SOHC, would I be able to remove #13 (self cancelling unit) by using a two print adjustable flasher in place of #16?

Trying to wire up LED signals and if possible LED signal indicator. I am toying with the idea of running a left and right signal indicator on my dash keeping the entire left and right side circuits separate and all LED

Any help is great as always.
