good start, tank looks great,go with the white frame and dont think so much on the other stuff, once you get some color on the frame the rest will come to ya.
  5. nah...I chickened out...went with a silver metallic frame...but its gonna come together I think...might have to go a different route with the wheel color...maybe just sand blast to bare metal and see from there.

that silver would still look great with a glossy white
  7. theres a bit of white in the works...my minds eye says this should look sick when done...I cant wait!!
  8. Nice progress!

What route you taking for the seat?
  9. ordered a ducati 750 wide seat/tail from airtech...should be here in a few weeks.
I really wanted to make my own...but lack of time and proper tools to do so was making the project drag on.So I popped for the online purchase, and will achieve the look I want ...I can spend time elsewhere...and I'll still need plenty of that to get it ready for summer.

I see you went with the disc brakes...what did you use for all of it? I am thinking about ditching my drum brakes.
  11. I bought a box of donor parts of craigslist from a guy who gave up on his 77 xs 400d.

got my MAC 2-1 in the mail today...I'll have to get some recent pics up soon.
New job is taking way too much time!!

  15. I should start a thread called 'the crap that grows legs during the build'...I spend more time looking for stuff than I do assembling it.

coming along great skillz!!! are you putting the battery in the tail? thats what im working on now. i made a box to fit but it looks crappy so i scrapped it. back to the drawing board.
  18. yep...looking at a cbr 1000rr battery...dimensions are pretty small...and should be plenty enough juice....hide it under the tail with the cdi,etc,..

i found the cdi box fits nicely under the tank, under the top tube and between the two side tubes (right above the carbs), I tie wrapped mine in there and it fits nicely and is clean

looking good :) I guess my exhaust is definitly MAC, its identicle to yours
