Starter clutch modification

Guys...I'm not mechanical enough to attempt this, but check out what's been done on another Yamaha that used a similar 3 ball starter clutch:

This guy modified a more modern sprag clutch, and then drilled and tapped the rotor so it would bolt on. He goes from 3 points of contact on the old starter clutch to a bazillion (ok, so I didn't count them). Seems like a great idea.

Anyone here able to attempt something like this for our bikes?

There is also a pretty neat discussion on homemade starter chain tensioners. It could be interesting for those of us who have loose chains despite our current tensioners. Although I haven't seen the same type of problems they're talking about on my bike or on the forum.
