I bought my xs about 3 months ago, for about 300$.
The guy I bought the bike from started to buy parts
to make a custom out of it, and I kinda continued in
the same style that he wanted.

I'm gonna start with just some pictures that was taken
from start until now, then update when I do something new!

Update:

Sorry, I forgot to put up an presentation! I was just so exsited to put up a thread!

Hi, My name is Dan and I'm from the middle of sweden!
Im about 25years old, and I've been trying to get a bike
for about 7 years.
But it was one of my friend who bought a Yamaha xs500 1977 about a year
ago that finally pulled my thumb out of my ass!
So I was looking everyday on a swedish car/mc site to find something nice!

My choice fell on the Xs400 and I have no regrets about the most beatiful bike in the
world ( just my opinion ).

If anyone wonder anything about me or my bike just ask!

So to the new pics of what I've did to the bike last night:

I got this piece of a seat from a Wv passat 2010 to shred into a seat for my Bike!

This "filler" under the leather, Its actually from the same car as the leather!

Put it all together to this bottom I made out of plastic, shaped the plastic with
a "Heatgun"

And here's the allmost finished seat, just gotta get some more nails to the nailgun!

Sorry about my spelling, I think it was about 7 years sins I typed any longer texts,
got many friends speaking english but typing, man its not my thing!
But hey Ill give it a try!

nice and welcome to the forum Dan.

I see 70's 50cc Gilera's are poplular over there, I'm doing one myself at the moment!

Thanks to both of you :)
Gileras from 1970? I think I missed out on that, but I'll check it out!
The only bikes you see where I live is Harley's, triumphs and supermotards really!...

So, I was smoking outside my house.. and found a thing that I think turned out pretty cool!

full

A "helpwheel" from my kids bike :D and ofcourse my awsome dawg spliffie in the backround!

full

I cut of a piece from it and made a holder to the taillight and regholder!

full

I think it turned out pretty good!

And I realised that the gasttank is rusty as hell on the inside, so thats the next thing to
fix! Haven't desided witch way I'm gonna try! Have someone tried kreem tanksealer?
If someone can give me suggestion how to clean and seal the gastank it will make my day!

Sorry for the bad pics, using my phone :banghead:

ha, your poor kid will only be able to go round left or right now on his bike as someone "stole" one of his stabilizers!

I forgot to tell you guys that my bike is chopped in the front springs
and in the back the owner before me changed the springs to what
I belive is springs from a suzuki savage 650, not shure..

full

The new spring VS the original!

full

I'm a short ugly focker about 5,47ft tall.. with that said, it's pretty low! :D

full

Don't know if the pants or the bike wins in the contest of the lowest!

Hi foxsake!

Nice to see a fellow Swede! (Vart i "mellansverige" bor du?)

You asked about rust removal from your tank and here's a pretty easy way of doing it. Cheap to! Link to tank rust removal

I don't know about the sealer you asked about, I just cleaned my tank from rust and keep it gassed upp. Unless you have any leaks that is..

Keep posting pictures as you go!

Stabler: Cool! Jag är från hallstahammar, västmanland!

Thanks, i found a kit from restom.se that hopefully will fix the rustissue :)
Ofcourse I'm gonna continue to upload pics along the journey, if everything goes
as I plan i'm gonna post a videoclip when i'm riding it today :D

No Masters: Thank you  It was the old owner of the bike that bought the
springs, but I think they're from a savage 650..
The gastank I was told that it was from a cb125 but i can't find out if it's true,
I've been searching as crazy to find one, but no luck yet..
If you can find out please tell me :D

Sorry I haven't posted a video, have been riding pretty much all the time sins it started!
Try to post it tonight! :bike:

Okay...
So basicly I havent done shit with the bike sins I got it to start.
However I have realised after allmost being pulledover by the
sheriff a couple of times that I'm supposed to finish the bike, and get
my damn license.

The gastank I'm gonna use for my build had to get a rustcleaning..
So I put the original back, but.. Ive rebuilted the frame so it would
fit the new gastank so I had to make the old one in place in a bad way...

full

After I got that "in place" I changed the sparkplug and it started with
the starter on like the second try

And this is one of the testdrives :D

BTW : Does someone know where you can buy things to a xs500 1977, like gasketkits and that kind of stuff, havent found anything in Swedle unfortually..

Tomorro the cleaning of the gastank take place.. wish me luck!

Nice project fox! The seat looks good and i like the bracket you made from your kids training wheels lol, well done sir... Are those stock mufflers ? Is it safe to assume the sound in your video is from stock mufflers? .... oh and good luck with your tank!

Thank you! It's the original muffler! I'm just gonna use it for the inspection
To make the DBrequiredment! Im thinking about making a 2to1 with a supertrap muffler once
I pass the inspection! Really love the sound of the supertrap :)
