Hi everyone I'm new..I've had my 1982 xs400J maxim since it was found in the back of the yamaha dealership n 1983 when they changed owners...Its got 12000 miles in 29 years was tenderly maintained until 4 years ago it got lost in the yard. Now it been made over...carburetor torn down to its jets soaked in sea foam and other cleaners, new brakes, chain, and other cosmetic stuff...just took it on a 50 mile check up run down decker canyon in malibu north/west along the beach headed back up potrero for those who know the area
...big question...as i was just coming up the winding protrero cyn rod my tach started making all kinds of whining noise like the cable inside was spinning around the spedometer guage started acting like a windshield wiper and the tach went off the scale...it seemed that the clutch slipped but that just could have been my imagination due to the tach red lining...
any thoughts?
