It's be one or two maybe even three years since I posted this turd on here when I first tried to turbocharge it. I have since then made some major changes to it. After a ****ton of google searches and head scratching, I have finally got it running to my satisfaction on a stand while playing with the throttle. It's time to install the minimum for a road test then tear it down and finish up the frame. Some pix..

Runs like a scolded dog against a wall. 7/10lb boost. I stripped it to weld the frame up. Trying to fab a rear brake.

Slowly going back together. Eliminated kickstart components and cut a plug for the case. Took clutch apart and machined the boss and pressure plate to accept big bear plates and more of them. Trying to hide battery under swingarm at the moment.

I have figured out how to not only run a 400 properly off a single carb. I have tried several makes and models of carbs testing things. I have tried a few types of homemade manifolds with widely varying results. I'm happy with the results of the yz450 fcr carb. Once boost was applied there were heavy modifications I had to do to the carb, fuel supply, crankcase ventilation, and a good pressure reference for the float bowl and fuel pressure regulator.

Stock motor from 78. 15,000miles. Chopped frame. The entire rear is xs650. She's getting a smaller front tire "I've had three on it". Turbo and intercooler from Audi a6 2.7 biturbo. " I have a spare of each. Stock waste gate, greddy blow off valve, homemade piping, 255lph fuel pump, modified fuel pressure regulator to do low pressure for carb, homemade restarts with bmx grind pegs for pegs, cbr600f2 I think shit linkage and brake/master assembly, same with rear shock, super short sheet metal intake manifold with 39mm FCR keihin, 1972 suzuki gt175 fuel tank, headlight from a midnight special triple. Wiring and a bit of bodywork/ seat next.

Battery box and battery fitted. Now to start some wiring, very simple. Bar mounted On/off switch and start button. Hot lead installed on battery, ran out of solder on connectors. Back to the store. Few pix for now.

Definite video post when it's roadworthy. In my many tests using revs or a wall dyno I'm satisfied enough to make it go somewhere without needing a truck. It has a very unique sound not like any bike I've ever heard seeing I have ridden the old cx turbo and ninja turbo.

I have tried to upload a video of a startup/run/revs for the last three days. 40 baybe 50 seconds long from my phone. New phone, can't figure it out. Any suggestions?

Since I can't post a video..Proper intake manifold for an engine of this style. It is a stubby tin box the size of both intake ports as close to head as possible. I have a V divider inside that comes near to the top of the throat for the carb mount. I have made a half a dozen different ones. First style the carb was backwards near the points cover. One side ran lean. Even without the turbo, tuning was easier and more even with the carb as close to head as possible splitting the intake charge immediately. The FCR carb kicks the dog**** out of anything yet I have tried to run it on. Throttle is direct not vacuum controlled, has an accelerator pump that is adjustable. If you want better response your looking at EFI. I didn't do EFI because I play with diyefi on vehicles. Never done a blowthrough setup with a carb before. This turd is my unicorn and I have learned a boatload

It's raw but road test ready. I want one of my buddy's to chase me with my truck just in case. 2 days and no helpers. Burnouts in the garage are getting old.

I got this bike 10 years ago in pieces from a good biker friend that tore it apart running to make a hard tail chopper out of it. When real money or fab had to be put in it he gave up and dropped it off to me in boxes. I couldn't ebay it away for some reason. And here I am.

Sticker. Coming off soon. Anyone need any parts from xs400/650 or a midnight special triple?

Yes I filed down webs and drilled the front rim for balance. I have put three different size tires on it and never needed weight yet

If anyone is looking to eliminate the kickstart internally I can make these. This is the first one I made.

Fixed the turbo dump pipe leak, tig welded a new one. Found out after three different modifications to my fuel pressure regulator that it is not properly constructed "taiwan". Till parts come in I started on the seat/ tail cowl. One piece when done.
