Vin number

I recently did some work on a freinds xs400j. I thought it had a pretty low Vin number 000569 or close to that.
Is that a low number, how many of the 82s were made?
Any info is appreciated.

Most vins start with the number 123 then go up. I have a 82 SJ with a 591 vin number. I know the sohc 82 xs400 where a hard sell for that year and even had left overs re-sold/released from the factory in 83-4 with another vin run. At least that was what my local yamaha dealers sales book said. Not sure how many where sold for that year do I did see books up to 1976 that listed total u.s. production numbers. The xs360 had like 1500 bikes for that year.

Thanks. I was just curious as to what I might find.
the number on this 82 xs400J is 000569 that seemed like a pretty low number to me. Don't know if that means diddly squat, but thaought I would try to find out.
