Those wires should be fused. The main is 20 amp and the other is 10.

Well did not do anything directly "with" my XS400, but did drop by the DMV so it is now legal, at least for 10 days then I need to run it over to the shop to get the NY State inspection done. It's a one man shop and he likes the old Yamahas and has played a little with home built reverse trikes long before there were Spyders also done some sidecars.

Nope. Exactly the opposite. Because the wool doesn't completely compress, it allows for airflow. Wool also wicks moisture so you will stay dryer, even in the rain. And it helps prevent "hot spots" when seated for a long time by spreading the weight. Perfect for long rides. :bike:

I am curious - how did you manage to find a yellow sheep to match - or are you now a member of the "Black Sheep Squadron"? :wink2: A pic would be nice.

Noted. I was wondering why the fuse block has two extra slots. There's also a white wire(cloth wrapped) that just goes to nothing. I plan on a frame off cafe build this winter if I don't sell it, so the wiring just has to get me through the summer

Got it Running for the first time since 1984!!! Sort of!

She will start after a few kicks with the throttle fully open and will stay on for a few seconds but if I move the throttle she dies. One exhaust is wet and black the other dry and less black. I'm guessing the carbs need setting up right and probably rejetted (which is a shame as I haven't seen any jets for sale for it). Choke open or closed makes no difference and messing about with anything else seems to make no difference.

Guess I will have to spend a few days searching on here how to set it up.

Well chuffed she started cos at least I know she can run after the re-build.

Sounds amazing when it does run too. :D

Also put a new longer Clutch and throttle cables on and adjusted them up. I'm assuming it's normal for it to be a mans clutch??......heavy traffic will be a sore on the wrist!!

  15. Today I fitted a lovely pressed metal plate. Much nicer than the massive plastic ones that are standard in the UK! its reflective yellow and only a little smaller than UK regulation so isn't TOO illegal :p

  18. Had a beautiful ride to work today - it killed me to park it...
I have been tinkering with the air mixture screws looking for the perfect spot. It ran great this morning, I am excited to take a look at the spark plugs to see if I have had any luck fixing the richness of my right cylinder.
