xs 400 1981 tire sizes

Hi There,

Just in process of converting a xs400 special into a cafe racer/ scrambler style motorcycle. I have the factor wheels on and would like to put some tires on it to make it look more the part. I have looked on google pictures and seen hundreds of xs400 with just what i'm looking for. I'm just struggling to find any. I am in the UK and the bike is in france so would prefer to buy some from either country. Can anyone recommend a website to buy some from, or tell me what is the best size for the 16 inch rear rim and 18inch front rim. I know bigger is not always better but that is the look im going for. Thanks for your help!

here is my 81 with 120/90 front and 130/90 rear front is 18 rear is 16 no spare room on front for any fender

Thanks for the info, is the back tire a tight fit?

the back tire is tight but if not, check axle spacer placement and where it may rub on the brake stay arm.

i got a 82 special with cast wheels. avon 130/90/16 on backwheel and 100/90/18 on front. Would not get the avon again, i know pirelli has this size on speed demon and street demon series with sizes that fit both front and back. Its importaint to get the same tire for both wheels, as they will have the same rubbermix and characteristics for grip.
