Hi guys I have a query about my yamaha xs400 maxim.
My air box is cut in the front to fit the pod filters is this a problem?
Because now I'm considering buying a new air box to exchange it with the old one and put an original air filter for this bike.

(also on the bike itself it says that it is a yamaha xs400 special and on the documents, but it seems to me from everywhere that it is a yamaha xs400 maxim)

It's the DOHC engine, and the tank is the maxim style tank. The filter box is a weird one though. Not sure why they'd want to leave that in place if they went with pod filters. Find a good used one off ebay or something.

So I have to change the air box, because I looked in other forums and they said that it is very difficult.

Definitely a maxim. Worried how different the tune would be if you switched back to regular air box filter... might be an increase in airflow, might be a decrease.
