Intake manifold questions and comments

Travis- Ya leaning towards the standard paper gasket. After welding in the tubes I'm going to lightly deck the gasket surface on my mill so its straight.

Charles- It's good I made both options then I wasn't sure what people were going to like.Silicone won't work I looked into it. Well it would just not long term for fuel resistance. I'll post pictures with hose when I get it

Very cool idea and nice job so far. But I don't think a lot of people would be willing to spend that kind of money. When they only spent a few bucks on the whole bike as it is.:(

Ya I know. I think I'll put them out there once I get them done and if someone is interested great. If not atleast I'll have a cool one of a kind intake. Any money I make will just go back into the bike anyways.

Me and my Wife have a deal my side jobs pay for bike parts. She started to question where all the money was going :( .

Shaun, what's the flange size on the intakes/carbs? I have some hi pressure, chemical transfer (oil/fuel safe), 38mm ID, 10mm thick hose that my buddy used on a couple of turbo set ups. Let me know if that will work.

I'm about an hr NE from cambridge. I'll test fit the hose onto my carbs this weekend (the riding season is done for me and I'm stripping the bike down for a v2 build over the winter)

wow I was on a school board computer before and the pictures were blocked thats some thick wall hose. Let me know if it fits I appreciate it.

I usually use rubber line but I have had bad luck the last couple times I've went in and I keep getting the counter guy I don't like. A buddy I went to school with works there and always helps me out. I've been waiting for a week for the guy to call me with some info. I gave him the brand and part numbers all he had to do was check stock.

no go, way to tight the way it is. I can send you a section to see if it can be bored out:yikes::D or sumfin rather to make it to work if you'd like:wink2:

Think I'm going to go ahead and use copper like the stock. Sorry I haven't got them together quicker I've been doing a university course which takes up most of my time. Let me see if I can get the vacuum lines in this weekend and welded. Welding is easy, its the other finiky stuff that takes time. Plus after I weld then get faced on the lathe as I want a good gasket surface. This is a bad time for me to be working on the bike. In two weeks my course is over and I'm free as a bird.

I think you can mimic the stockers here. These vacuum fittings won't see much stress and if your flange is the same thickness of the stock, and the stock can use a basic threaded/pressed barb, we should be able to as well.

As for the rest, take your time. School is more important. :)

Hmm. You may be right. I have this debilitating disability colour blindness (partial) :(. Telling copper and brass apart are hit and miss with me.

Please god nobody ask me what colour something is, the most annoying question every colour blind person gets after telling someone they are colour blind.

Charles

Thanks I'll be done with it soon and can't wait to be. Working a job and doing this thing at night sucks. Currently procrastinating should really be doing my major assignment.

Shaun

Drewpy now you have me thinking. I think I'm going to have to use aluminum for the vacuum lines or there will be a galvanic reaction between the aluminum and the copper/brass. They are highly reactive. Glad you said something I hadn't considered it. Aluminum will be fine in that application.
