Xs400 enduro/hybrid

Did some work today on the exhaust. It almost done. I have a guy that is going to help me bend my exhaust and make the pieces I need to finish hooking up the mufflers. They will tuck behind the frame (near the rear shock). I am really happy with the way it is turning out. I drilled the welds and removed the collars that were on the stock headers and welded them unto the new headers they fit perfectly. This allows me to use the sock gaskets, collars and flanges to attach the exhaust. I think it looks pretty sweet, if I do say so myself.

I FINALLY got my exhaust finished. I also got the bike running which was my goal over spring break. It isn't running great but It is running so that's a good sign. I made a temp chain, and rigged up a fuel bottle and battery and rode it around the house a few times. Whoo Hooo!

Here are some pictures and a video of my dilemma. The last picture is of my kick starter. It was hitting my exhaust so I welded a nub on the shaft to hold it out and drilled a new pocket for the detente ball to sit in, so it will lock into place. There is a video at the bottom of my post

Looking good, love the exhaust. One of the plans for the BioNinja was a similar setup, just not sure how much room id have to do it as I plan to have the ammo can saddle bags. We'll see eventually. Your idea for the filters is the route I would go. Either that or attempt a homemade 2 into 1 filter dropping with 90s to just above the crankcase breather and find a 2 sided filter. What cans are those, love the note.

Thanks man, The cans are off of a crf250f. I love the sound too. Its sounds like two thumpers running together. Nice and deep. Another problem I am having is that I have two xt350 fuel tanks with the gas caps locked. Any idea of how I can get them off. I have several Yamaha keys but none of them work. Does anyone know of an aftermarket cap that will work. Oem caps cost more than what I payed for the bike. Thanks

Well I got some wiring sorted out and finished my lighting in the rear. I am still working on the air cleaner setup. I also got tired of trying to pick the lock on my gas cap....so I drilled the lock mutilating everything in and around the keyhole. I got the cap off though. I decided to make my own "custom" cap so I fired up the lathe. I like seeing chips it means I am actually getting something done. The cap is still in the rough. I have some more work to do to it, but you get the idea.

XS400 powered XT dualsport/enduro. I thought I posted after you had asked about the keys, my best suggestion is to take it to a locksmith and have them cut you a set. I got lucky with the BioNinja, the backs of the helmet locks have a code on them that a locksmith and use, same keycode the owner was given when they bought it.

Oh well, Now I have a cool cap that I cant lose the keys to :) It didnt take long to make and cost me 0.00$ but thanks for the idea. I have another tank that is locked, so I will keep that in mind.
