    XS400 Knock Noise

Silly me: Why not post the issues as video on youtube and link here? Maybe we can solve it with some more direct observation.

    Barn find spark issues

Yes, the constant sparking is due to grounding issues in that circular timing plate where you adjust the points. You'll need to clean all of that up, possibly replace the plate/points/gaps parts and see if you can isolate the grounding issues

    XS400 Knock Noise

If that isn't your tappet adjusters hitting the tops of the caps that hold them in, then I'd look into the tightening of your timing chain adjustment. If it's off, you'll have an asynchronous ignition issue, and yes, heat buildup, and blueing, on the one side that's not letting enough exhaust...

Bike loses 50% power when Throttle opens past certain point

Seems to me you have an issue involving vibration. Today one of my four fuses popped out of the fuse tray, on one end, and after being really frustrated, found the fuse was simply OUT of it's "socket" at one end. Nothing more complicated than that. Then of course...it broke down later...but...

    Feedback For volcomskater77

Hey man, do you still have the tank and sides for that orange 360? My tank took a big dent.

    Carb sync

This is covered if you google how to make a homemade manometer filled with atf in a clear hose from the hardware store. Good luck.

Starts when cold, but dies and won't start when warm.

Just a thought but check your valves too, they mimic carb symptoms.

    76 Yamaha XS360

I own a 76 xs360. It's a great bike. Take good care of it and enjoy it. Might require a few places where you do your rewiring.

Engine Died, No Compression. Thought Cam Chain but then...

You can find it by mounting a magnetic retriever on the end of a piece of flexible wire. (Make sure it's very attached, I bought a telescoping one from Autozone and then bent it and didn't care if it broke. Tank off you can get in and out of the top end easily. Also, you could just leave it...

What did you do with your XS today?

yeah, if the friend had just tended the battery it would be running still. Sigh.

What did you do with your XS today?

Today I was positive I could push start my 76 360 to start it because it has low amps after a winter off the battery tender. (thanks unreliable alcoholic friend! ) The bike and I ended up at the bottom of ever, and I mean EVERY hill I could roll it down trying to get the engine to catch. New...

    battery tender ?

Yes, they're helpful, the battery is the last thing you wanna deal with at the end of a long winter. Add seafoam to tank, fill tank. Yes, fill it up. As long as there's seafoam, it will be fine later in spring. Drop the fuel from the bowls. Screws on bottom of carbs. At that point I'd...

Trying to start, sounds clacky (audio)

I recall looking at diagrams for the roller locking bolt on an HK MP5, and saw it's the same principle. The roller locks itself in place due to the centrifugal force, so the bolt and barrel are essentially "Clutched" together long enough that each shot fired is coming out of a single unit, using...

How to rebuild your leaky or starving petcock

Hi Yvette, Sort of like surgery, in order to keep it clean, you want to post your question in it's own thread, and we can answer it there. Posts are sort of like one way streets, they tend to lead only to one ending, and you have to start your own street to lead to your answer. We'll be with...
