You can download the wring diagrams and service manual sections from links here http://www.xs400.com/tech.php i can't remember how much info there was on cleaning the carbs in the manual BUT there is lots of topics on doing it since it is a common problem with these bikes so do some searching...

I've had the same issue with 2 different kick-stands. Just had a buddy weld up a gusset between the small lever and arm. I've been debating losing the center stand and getting a lift for summer

It look's to me that the valve stem's in your link are for tubless tire's. My 82 DOHC run's tubless. Otherwise, most tube's will fit a number of different size tire's as long as they are the same actual diameter size ie 18" or 19" or 21"

I believe this prevent's the bike starting WITHOUT the clutch pulled in. On my 82, I disabled this switch as well as the switch on the kick stand which does the same thing. You can download the manual's here. The ELECTRICAL PDF has the wiring schematic's
