does the flasher have (polarity) a plus/minus connection? you may need to move the plug in pins of the socket Brown to +, Brown/White to -

yes the electronic flashers work with LEDs or regular bulbs, they use capacitor charge time not resistance to "know" when to flash

the stock flasher uses resistance to function 2 27 watt bulbs + a 3 watt indicator 57 watt total losing the 3 watt indicator may make your flasher slower as it will take longer to heat up but it should still work, if you go with a electronic flasher that uses capacitor charge time you may have...

it's possible you might have different lenght springs in your clutch, (old trick was to put in 3 stiffer racing springs and 3 stock springs) to improve clutch so they might be all on one side instead of every other one, you need to measure/inspect the springs then make sure plates are in correct...

use electrical contact cleaner, take the switch housing loose from the handlebar so you can see inside to spray it while working the switch back and forth, WD-40 is a water dispersant not a cleaner or a lube, graphite conducts electricity, it would short out the switch contacts to each other...
