So the wife and I have been married going on 3 years now and are expecting our first child in may :) and we are yet to have a honeymoon!!!

Her mother is coming up for an entire week in early September to watch the house, dogs and our baby so we can finally have our get away. She's never been out of the country and i've been to the bahamas twice (which blew my mind). We've got in narrowed down to a few locations and once the tax returns come in its time to book it.

Has anyone been to any of these places? Whats your opinion on them? Any interesting stories to tell or advice to give before we choose?

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
Ocho Rios, Jamaica
Montego Bay, Jamaica
Paradise Island, Bahamas

I was just on a cruise that stopped in Nassau, but I never crossed the bridge to Paradise Island unfortunately. I hear it's great over there. I can tell you that the beaches on Nassau are pretty nice! I'd like to visit Atlantis someday. Cruises to the Bahamas are just too cheap to pass up!

I know right?
Have you ever looked into an all inclusive? I don't see how anyone makes any money off these things. For 2 of us to fly to Miami (just so we could board the ship) was $800 a person round trip. On the contrary, 5 nights in Ocho Rios, all inclusive, airfare(which has a connecting flight in Miami) is $850 a person.

Not to spoil your honey moon I hope its realy great where ever you decide to go.I would love to go to the carribean during the winter months someday soon in my lifetime. The thing is make sure you use a very reputable cruise line when you go.With all the bad things on carnivals cruise ships Id be very leary about going on one of them. They do have some very affordable packages but dang I would hate get stranded out at sea many miles away from land such as what has recently happened. Before i forget Congrads on that baby and happy family life.:)

I wouldn't hesitate to go on another Carnival Cruise. I've been on two of them and thought they were great. Even with the couple of problems those two ships had, the passengers were taken care of. :twocents: I was actually on a Carnival Cruise when that one broke down in the gulf. If anything Carnival cruises are even cheaper now so it would be a good time to book one! :)

From what I heard they got monetary compensation plus free tickets for another cruze right? After being stranded at see for 5 days with out food, water and the filth from sewage backing up why would anyone risk that again. These last 2 times arent the only time carnivals ships have had malfunctions.Just me but I wouldnt do it.Id rather take my chances and fly somewhere for a vacation.

I've never been on a Carnival cruise. The only one i've ever experienced was Royal Caribbean and I will say they're customer service was top notch also.

but at this point i think we're both leaning towards an all inclusive somewhere. While cruises are great we both think being able to set your own schedule for a week vs the whole itinerary concept of a cruise is more of what we're looking for, plus its just to good of a deal.
