So I'll be posting pics soon of my build. All I have left is to buy and install my seat and buy and install my taillight. My question is anyone know what I need to do to make the brake light harness work with an aftermarket light that has 2 or 3 wires? Since the harness has 8 wires,2 blue 3 yellow and 3 black. Does this mean I need a 3 wire light since there are 3 colors? Then twist each color into 1 wire for each color leaving me 3 wires not 8. Thanks

Dude, that was answered 3 months ago. Someone bought a LED tail light, and they put up Pics. You have all the key words in your paragraph. I have to go to work, otherwise I wouldn't mind helping you with your searches.

I recently rewired my taillight and the way it worked was:

-the blue wires are the running light
-the yellow are for the brake light and
-the black wires are the ground

That seems like an excessive amount of wires coming out of the harness, You can likely reduce them down to connect the taillight. Your taillight will either have to be a dual bulb or a dual filament for the wiring to work correctly

this thread helped me out http://www.xs400.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5775&highlight=tail+light
