Hello Guys,

First of all sorry for my english, I dont practice it often.
So Ive changed:
1. My stock air filters with k&n style filters with H pipe
2. Stock exhaust, with shorty mufflers 12'

Attaching only one photo that I have in this computer. Im at work.

The problem is that after a ride with high rpm my bike starts to choke and I have to keep higher rpm not to let it die. Another problem is that my mufflers popping. As I understand its so because of air intake and extra fuel. The thing is that Im hardly an expert of carbs/engine, Im much better at work with metal, painting. After some reading I understood that I have to change carb jets??? Could someone help me with jets? What size/type I have to buy? I wont do installation by myself:)

I found these on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-XS400-XS-400-cc-Special-Twin-Custom-Carburetor-Carb-Stage-1-3-Jet-Kit-/251493384558

Will it fit? anyways im from Europe so maybe there are some ways of buying every jet separately? maybe someone knows other kits that I could buy in Europe?

LuckyEight,

That doesnt help. I dont know what size of main jets, screws and so on has to be with my filters/mufflers set.. First time in my life I have business with motorcycle carbs.

Anyways thx for sharing this site;)

An expert advised me to use 140 main jets when I mounted pod filters and open exhausts. Haven't been able to test them out though... On the other hand I've heard going 5 up on the main jets could be enough, which would mean my bike needs 130 mains as it had 125 when I bought it. Going to take me some work to figure out as well

Don't buy those kits they are a waste of money. First off you need to tell us what jets and settings ( mix screws and needle jet clip) you are running now. What do the plugs look like?

It would be good if i could tell what jets and settings im running. What should I do to make it clear for you? Take everything apart?

Or maybe you can add a photo that will be easier for me to understand which part of carburator I need to show u :) Sorry for me being such expert..

If you don't know what jets you have you will have to open them up. If you have never opened them to clean them than that could be pat of the issue:wink2:

Somewhat of a good starting point when changing over to pods and open exhaust is usualy about 2 up on the mains and 1 size up on the pilot.Lookup the jetting guide on the forum or somebody can post it for you.
