i am not a huge fan of the stock mag color way and i want to paint them all black. Im not looking for a showroom finish and since they are not a huge area to paint, can i use regular ol' metal spray paint?

any tips on prepping the wheels before paint besides a real strong clean/scrub, maybe fine sandpaper then a coat of primer?

or do rims need to be powder-coated to last?

Yea just a normal car/bike paint from a can will do fine. For best results sand it using coarse to really fine wet sandpaper, and apply a primer. Fine sand again, and spray in the color you like. Then add a layer or two of clear coat to make it last.

Do they make cans of aerosol auto paint?

or stick with a spray gun if i can get my hands on a compressor?

how about gold?

I don't get it. I prefer to polish them not paint them. These rims were cast to showcase the polished edges and rim. The paint actually accents the polished aluminum. To paint over the polished raised edges makes the rim ho hum.

To each their own, I guess. My preference are polished spoke wheels (which I have), but if I had to go with mags they would definitely be 100% painted. The cross-drilling above is a nice modern touch, frwinks.

I got some in rattle can from the paint department at the local Home Depot. It's listed as home appliance epoxy paint. Giving it a shot myself soon.

hey jt, the wheels were sprayed with auto grade epoxy. They are sooo easy to clean now.

I did try the appliance epoxy from HD on my mirrors and it's holding up quite nicely. Still has the shine and isn't chipping. I'm sure it'll work great on your wheels.
