I think Oil Galleries are clogged.

Where did I say I ran it without mufflers and filters? Anyway, mufflers are in place and filters are on. But I did notice when filters were off that it did backfire more. And still, nobody comments about the oil. The clean oil on the right, but dirty out of the drain plug and left side. I'm sure oil pump is ok because there is oil pressure when running. Wierd huh?

I have the air filters off at the moment until everything is set up and it starts easy. Will put them back on with the gas tank later.

I just wanted to make sure you weren't doing it all the time. Didn't mean to offend.

I would suppose as long as you keep getting dirty oil, that means the clog is coming loose. I would think just keep on keeping on should fix it over time if that is the problem. I don't know if it's kosher to add an oil additive to help clean out the deposits on these old engines but somebody else might know. I don't see why it would be a problem though.

Thanks! I am hoping for that. I put diesel (about 1/2 Litre) in with the oil and ran it a bit. That's when a whole lot of crap came out. Then changed the oil again and added an upper cylinder, seal fixer additive. Well, it went from puffing blue one one side to clean exhaust after about 15 minutes of running. I agree that it may take a bit to get the clog out but I used a floor jack to subsistute for a side stand on the right side so the oil may seep over, hopefully. I've only put about 7km on it through all of this so I'm not exp-ecting any quick results until I get it registered and take it out for a long drive. I'm just hoping to get it reliable. And it seems to be so far. The idling is improving every time I start it. Once a day.

BTW I added the Oil additive because we also have a Chrysler Interepid (2000) that had a typical intrepid blue puff occassionaly and we added that addidive to it and it worked as advertised. I just want to get it through this summer so I can likely do a valve job next winter and eliminate this problem. Not sure if I need rings, but doubt it since there's no cloud of smoke on acceleration.

Thank you for your input.

Thanks everyone!!!
I've got about maybe 50-60 Miles on it now (Just over 100k). Mileage wasn't good (40 mpg), but I assume that's from not being able to idle and revving it a lot, to keep it going, while stopped. Took it for a 10 Mile highway run and at around 50mph, speed seemed to be steady but RPMs jumped up or down by about 10 intermittently.

After that, I removed and cleaned the Idle Mix screws and holes. Now it Idles! I Expect better mileage and maybe oil gunk might let loose as I ride it. Still taking it easy on it though until I can see all lubrication is getting through, and after I get over the scare of opening it up once. Holy crap! It performs nicely when twisting the throttle. I'm not to likely to go on any long highway trips though. When I did the 10 Mile trip there was wind and at 60 mph, gusts didn't help my stability. Anyway, slowed down and enjoyed the rest of the ride.

Thanks again!!!
