Building a custom Cafe'/dirt tracker style bike out of a 1981 XS400. Here are some details of the build:

  • Stock unmolested frame (including neck)
Large 53mm forks from a modern sport bike
    Dual discs up front
    Single disc rear
    Chopped rear fender
LED taillight molded into rear fender
    Custom mirrors
Stock speedo/tach grafted onto sport bike top clamp
    R1 pegs
    R1 hear braking system
XS mag wheels, 18" front and rear
    4.10 front tire 80/20 style
    5.10 rear tire 80/20 style
    Flat black frame
    Gloss black engine
Tank and engine covers will be custom metallic silver/grey with red lettering
Seat will be a black cafe' style seat with read stitching
Custom exhaust traveling directly under the bike
Stock tank now has a molded in flip up aircraft style filler cap with hole now centered
Locking gas cap, key matches ignition key
    LED blinkers
Almost all the wiring is new
    New engine gaskets
New cables/lines (brakes, throttle cable, speedo, tach, clutch)
Retained both electronic start and kick start

This was not just bolting on parts. A LOT of machining and fabrication has gone into this bike and still a lot more left to do. Though it is finally nearing completion

What do you guys think so far?

2007 Suzuki XS400. And no, it's not a direct bolt on. LOL a LOT of fabrication work to get the front end to work with the XS frame and front wheel.
