Permanent Magnet Alternator Mod

I have never done it. I think most mag bikes have a charging coil and a lighting coil.

Might be better to start with bike that has contact breakers. May be able to run the magneto ignition circuit through the points to set timing and retain proper ignition timing advance.

Just speculation.
The bike needs something to advance the ignition timing.

Looks like I'm just going to get the proper stuff for this mod thread. I need a zl600 stator flywheel does anyone know what company or type of vihicle that is from. And thanks so much for the quick responces guys I feel like I'm moving ahead at light speed but backwards

Another thing to keep in mind is the timing marks that are on the stock fly wheel. You need those for also setting the valves.

I just want my bike back on the road and I think I f'd up this time idk what to do. I don't have any of the stock stuff I decided to buy and few items and throw out all the old stuff.

You can use the banshee parts if you modify everything to fit, but the question would be why? The stock system is better.
If you use the banshee parts you would not need the crank trigger unless you decide to switch to a wasted spark cdi. You wouldn't be able to use a banshee/rz cdi since the timing advance is set up for a 2 stroke. But you can use the banshee system, keep your cam trigger and use a stock tci or a pamco.

Basically, there is absolutely no point in ditching the stock system, at all. Most charging gremlins on the stock system are elsewhere down the line, either bad wire or bad connections.

Thanks for this thread man. I was thinking about doing this toy bike but got discouraged by some other threads. Got pics of your finished bike?

Sorry, the pictures were cleaned out with the rest of my google drive. Honestly, the conversion is pretty straight forward and I think you should have no problems without them. If you can, read some threads about a similar conversion for the xs650 and check out a schematic of a pma charging system. I was pretty young when I wrote this, thats the only reason Its so long.

Oh no worries man I just wanted to see what your bike looks like for ideas. I've seen a lot of sick builds with the magneto cause the electronics are stripped and they have an awesome bare bones look.
