Any reason I shouldn't consider buying a set of them?

depends on the bore size. I got a set for the FZ600 and they are OK.

I did strip mine down to check the seals are in etc first

Most seem to be 12.7mm bore. The ones I posted say 14mm, which I believe is OEM spec.

I noticed some master cylinders have this for a brake switch connector.
Will this still work if I simply just wire in one of those female connectors?

The switches on the aftermarket levers should wire up and work just like the stock setup, at least mine did.
Make sure you keep an eye on the clutch side, some of the levers have horrible machining where the clutch cable bends.

they work fine, but have a woody feel compared to the original yamaha m/c
