I would like to change the front and rear sprockets to a 17/34 or 17/35 set up for lower highway rpm since I do a bit of highway driving. 1.) Does anyone see any immediate issues with this? 2.) I can't find a 34T rear, but I can find a 17/35 setup from an '82 400 Maxim. Will this fit? The bolt pattern is the same but I haven't looked up the chain size from the Maxim. Thanks!

Maybe you can switch front and rear sprocket together if necessary, to keep chain the right size.
I don't know for sure, just a thought.

if you go to the website that makes them, they will list off the gears they make for each model.(I don't remember, but I remember using ebay to get the link to the manufacture, (I am sure a quick search will find the same info.)

I put a 17 tooth on mine and it made a big difference. Now the bikes runs smoother and vibrations are barely felt. For now, I dont think that I need to change the rear sprocket.

Sprockets should always be replaced at the same time. It will wear chains out fast and can cause tight spots meaning to chain will not have even tightness at all times of the wheels rotation.
