I have a 1982 dohc and just finished putting it back together after replacing the head gasket. I installed the new battery and was ready to start it up, however I have no power at all. I dont have any lights or anything. I plugged all of the connectors back in, however I realized theres one that I cant find the other end to, and theres one that is completely looped, which I'm unsure as to why that is. I've attached a picture as to what I'm dealing with.

Well the blue plug is missing a relay. Not sure where the other plug goes could not find the same wire combo on my harness.

download the manual and you will see that relay has to do with the starter. You should be able to go from there.

I'm using my memory here so forgive me if I'm incorrect (trying to locate my manual atm) but the plug on the right with the white jumper wire should go to your kickstand kill switch. That jumper wire looks like it got a little cooked, so I would check it as well.

Edit: Wanted to correct myself, it's the switch for the clutch not the kickstand. #5 under 6-1 page of the manual, which is chapter 6 page 1 of the manual.

I for one grew up before all these switches showed up to cause trouble where none ever existed before. You were supposed to be smart enough to know when and when not to try to start the bike and good training learning it. It then allows you to drop all those switches by jumpering them to not work at all. Parts left out of a system cause no trouble with a working brain operating it. By not carrying the ignition power all over the bike you likely end up with more powerful ignition too.
