What am I getting into?

What do you have planned next?

All that I have left to do is an oil change (Still looks pretty healthy), and GET RID OF THE GODDAMN SEAT!

Please, sweet Baby Jesus, someone sell me their seat...

funny how we consider disk brakes and electric start "options"

Ha! Electric Start is pretty fantastic.

Edit: Oh, BC, I also rebuilt the stock filters by ripping the skeleton down, cleaning it, reassembling it with Black RTV, then wrapping it with new foam. When the time comes, I could just rip out the foam for a new slab. I had some Bel-Ray oil sitting around from my R/C Car Days, so I threw that on it. Not bad- it cost me $4.

That is probably the best route. I have seen other people gut a random circular car air filter and attach it to the screen analogously to what you did. It might filter a little bit better, but your setup should be just fine.

Oil Change day. Another artsy-fartsy shot.

Another cell phone shot... what?! I was bored!

Put 65 miles on it today by driving it to work. The seat is getting traded on Monday!

So, I've got a regular seat on the way. It'll be here thursday. However, Im starting to dig the style of the Triumph Bonneville.

Is there anyone that makes a bolt on similar to this seat for an xs?

I have never seen anything bolt-on as far as seats go. The up side is that a seat that style is pretty easy to make.

I like the flat seat too, but as far as an actual XS seat, I think the closest thing I have seen is the '78-'79 (USA) stock seat like this one, but it still has a slight step to it.

Hmm. thanks guys!

It's uncanny how similar these bikes look. Im totally down for ripping off the triumph style now. I may just start removing things under the seat to get it flush and take a crack at making my own.

Ive become good friends with the local leathersmith in town, so maybe he can sew up a cheap cover for it.

Ideas, ideas....

Alrighty, ran into a bit of a snag..

Maybe a few of you have seen my Classifieds 'Wanted' Post, but Im in need of a new-er front caliper.

Yesterday, I was riding somewhere for work when I noticed it was getting harder to maintain pace and when I untwisted my wrist the front end dove to the ground. So, pulled it over and noticed the front caliper was frozen.

Pulled it apart last night after easing it home and disassembled the caliper. The piston is corroded beyond anything Ive ever seen. It's also past the point of just a rebuild- it's quite pitted.

So, I need a soloution. I don't want to dump a TON of money into it with a wacky new Brembo setup, but I'd like to have something that works. So, you guys got any ideas? Currently, Im tracking down a used caliper, but Im having no luck...

Well, I went an purchased a used caliper from a member on here. (Thanks Doctavee!) I got it on Friday and decided to rebuild it after class on Saturday. I redid the caliper with new seals and cleaned out the old fluid. It honestly looked like coffee grounds throughout the part. But, after some degreaser and compressed air, it looked like new.

My caliper on the right, new (to-me) rebuilt caliper on the left:

And, I also picked up one of these:

Ironically, I put it on my 'other' Yamaha for that photo.

So, that's it, just felt like updating.
