This is the first time in years I've registered for a forum. I just picked up a neglected 1983 xs400r. Brought it home two nights ago through a torrential downpour and shady ratchet-straps to dwell in my mancave until spring or summer(I have about 7 months with the Washington state climate). It ran well last summer until it sat in a barn until I picked it up. I'll skip the boring details and cut to the point. I'm a full time college student, and work full time, so I picked this up to keep me occupied over the winter. Last night I changed the battery and spark plugs, cleaned everything up a little bit, and got it to turn over, but not start, which is a big improvement over the condition it was left in 6 or more months ago. This is my first project tackling by myself, and first bike, so I felt pretty good about that. I'm going for a ratty cafe racer style build once I get it running smoothly, and I'm pretty excited about joining the xs400 community. I will probably be asking more questions that giving contributions, but I know my way around engines and wires enough to handle the basics, and eventually I might have a good idea or two to throw at you guys. Anyways, just figured I should put myself out there, and I'm very excited to get this project going!

Welcome!
