New member here from the Milwaukee WI area. I'm Robb, and I'm a bike whore like many of you. A few years back, a co-worker asked me to find him a good first bike, and what came along was an XS400. Rode it around for a week to make sure everything was in good working order, and grew sort of attached to it.

The bike worked well to introduce him to the joys of riding. A year later, I called to ask whether he might be interested in upgrading to something larger; why yes, he was, so I swapped him a 750cc Honda and got the XS back. Tore into it right away, and below is what I ended up with.

That bike was traded off just after completion, but this past weekend I picked up another XS400 to play around with. This one probably won't be reworked to that length, just want to upgrade a few things and enjoy it. At any rate, I joined the site, was surprised to see a few images of my blue bike already here, and am looking forward to meeting some more motoheads. Ride safe everyone.

Thanks Drewpy ... I took great pains to ensure the shock worked in compression, not extension; just wasn't comfortable assuming the unit would work well and safely in reverse. That necessitated a lot of linkage, but in the end I was pleased with the result. As usual, I sold the bike off before I had a chance to ride it much, but it did draw some nice comments at the one bike event I took it to :)

Looking forward to learning a lot from the folks here, got a few tentative plans for the new 400 ... slow day at work today, spent a lot of time sketching :)
