Hey, So i got a bike.... xs400r seca a couple days ago

More of a car guy but i wanted to save on gas this summer so i ended up with this thing,
2011-05-17_123004.jpg

chopped the fender
took all the gay shit off(turn signals, gauges, blablabla)
debadged it
painted it satin black
made handle bars out of the bar to jack up my engine hoist:wtf:

Now i just wanna reshape the seat, cut some moar shit up, and of course GO MOAR LOWW!!!
I read i can just pull the forks apart and cut the springs up front?

As for the back i have that monoshock setup unlike most the other sohc bikes here...
I'm thinkin take the rear spring out and just kinda rock it like a hardtale bike, or is there a better way to get this thing low??

Any ideas/opinions much apprecited!!

a few pics of my cars for the hell of it:D

damn you like it low haha. post MOAR or those pics in the other rides theards. i want to see MOAR of that beamer. i like the D-window wheels on it. never seen one like that before. awesome. as for the mono shock, since your used to coilovers and coil springs, im sure youve cut some before. i have never looked at the monoshock setup on the secas, i dont know if their 5-way adjustable, but would you be able to cut a coil out of it? if your thinking of strutting is, im sure comfortability wont be an issue. or maybe make some bars that snake around the forks and just slam it at an angle you can deal with then cut it at a later date?

o yeah, and WELCOME TO THE FORUM!

yea i've cut many springs haha, I dont really want any rear suspension on the bike, so i could probably just weld a bar in where the rear strut is supposed to be right?

the handle bar thing is a good idea! maybe i could get those clip-on handle bars that mount to the fork tube and just slide the fork tubes way up?
or would that look reTARded???
form>function

i just want the bike as low as possible, not really worried about handeling....

ANYWAYZ This is my build thread so i can just post MOAR pics of the bimmer here:p
idgaf I'll post bike pics this week after i mod some MOAR

handy with a camera and you snowboard? were gonna get along just fine. lol
as for the bar, unless you make it out of something super thick, wouldnt it eventually bend? i have a tendency not to trust things that are supported by one rigid piece of steel. but thats just me, if i wanted it UBER low, i would cut the spring. i lot. that way if it flexs (flexes?) the spring would absorb the majority of the twist. cut it and thread it as far as it will go. leave like 2 coils in. lol

form>function? awwwww yeah

HAHA yep I'm from montana so im boardin all winter! but ur right cutting the spring would probably be safer!

@Gotanubike
i actually have an e21! lol it's a rare model that came with a oem BBS front fairing/wing ext. so its easily mistaken as an e28. but nice e30 man! i want an e30 for my next project car:D

ah man, the seca is the hot one and they only made it for two years. can't you get one of those SOHC's to carve up? :D

As for trimming front springs I'd recomend offsetting the bars or running clip ons and just dropping the tubes down in the trees. You're gonna want all the spring rate you can get so I'd steer way clear of cutting. If you wanna rigid the rear, just make a strut to replace the shock. That way you can make replacement struts to change the height or maybe something adjustable.

none of that is my cup of tea but if I WERE to do such a thing that's how I'd go about it.

I could tell you were a fellow car guy by the way you were talking haha. Low is gudder. The s13 kinda looks janky though lol

Yeah that s13 I got when I was 15, just Sr swapped it and ran into shit, it was a good time!

But this weekend I turned the bike into a hardtail! Cut the rear of the bike off and re welded it, also made a new seat/seat pan! Pics soon

no pics, didnt happen.
lol. im intested to see what it looks like with the hardtail, never seen a seca with one.
i wanted to hes an S13, but all the ones over here are rust bucket stripped out ones and full blown drift cars. ill get one after i finish my 88 5.0

So its been a long time since ive been on here. I eneded up selling my bike a couple weeks after i bought it....
Long story short i just bought the bike back for $280 and ima go for a cafe fighter look. Im remaking the rear section of the frame and trying to rewire this bitch also(shit sucks)

Led tail light
Pod filters
Xj650 tank and headlight
Sv1100 rear suspension (hella legit and hella adjustable)
