I pulled the carbs this afternoon to install the new boots I'd received. No problems there, easy to do. I got it all put back together with pod filters, gave it a couple kicks and it started right up. I let it idle for a little bit then reached for the throttle to no response! It didn't affect the revs at all and it didn't spring back when released.

I pulled off the seat and tank and chased the cable but nothing looked immediately wrong... did I break something in the throttle with out knowing it?

thnx all.

First thing to check is "did the cable break?". Make sure the cable is pulling at the carb. With no change in RPMs, and no return it sounds like the cable is broke, or disconnected.

Has the outer sleeve come out of its housing seat on the carbs. The inner throttle cable will still be connected but won't pull it through the outer sleeve and turn the butterflies and it won't rev up.
I hope my rambling makes some sort of sense? lol

I did put the little pin back in the hole so the cable is connected to the carbs. I'll check if the cable still opens the butterflies. I'm hoping a new cable is not in the immediate future!

Yep, check what he said. Is the outer casing of the cable seated in this holder?

...and these aren't my carbs.

No, seriously :).....I mean, many a carb started out looking like those (and I am slow to criticize given that they are probably owned by someone on this forum), but these are my carbs:

I just didn't have a good picture showing the other side.

it wasn't but is now! the throttle still doesn't spring back like it should/used to? how do I/ do I lube the cables?

Or is it something else?

I did not remove the throttle body. why would that make a difference?
is it possible that I stretched the cable or something when i removed the carbs?

I'll stop be the auto parts store and see if they have some appropriate grease. thnx again.

you might have unhooked it at the throttle body that's all. Its easy to do and sometimes just pushing the cable up can do it!

It's something that can, and should have been, and still can be easily checked and fixed without having to run the bike and test the revs etc.
Just twist the throttle and look at the cable at the carbs. And also the cable retainer and screw at the handlebar/throttle under the switch.
