Hey guys let see if we can work together and come up with a good design for a bicycle rack for an XS400. i have a maxim so it is a bit different the the sohc bikes but i'm sure you guys have some great ideas. I'm going to draw up some ideas and post em some time today. (by hand, I haven;t used CAD in a while). I've seen a couple of designs online but most are very expensive. I want to make something that is easy and requires minimal welding mostly bolt together.

Anyways let the Ideas Roll.

Look for designs that let you carry a surf board - that's the type of rig you'll be looking for.

FYI - I wouldn't try riding across the largest country in the world with a bicycle attached to the side of your motorcycle... you weren't thinking of doing that, were you?

I'd try to rig up something like this, but for a bicycle:

Chris I was thinking the same thing. Unless you live in Vietnam or something, put that stuff on a freakin car or truck. It's a motorcycle, not a moving van. The same with trailers. My friend was killed when his trailer started wagging on the freeway. Motorcycles are dangerous enough without trying to make it kill you better. Rant complete!

There was a member on here a while back that put a set on hard case bags on his xs400. When he loaded them up and got on the highway with it the bike started to wobble at higher speeds:eek: From what I remember he did a some point lay it down and stopped using them after. I think if you kept the weight down with bags it would be ok but these bikes are not made to be mules:wink2:
