A different turn signals question

I'm getting rid of the front turn signals, but want to run the rears and double them as the brake and running lights. A) is this possible and B) I should just be able to remove the front signals without it screwing up the rear signals, right? Pretty sure that wiring runs in parallel, but I'm just starting to learn about wiring.
 
rear only signals won't work unless you use a electronic (no-load) flasher, running a dual filament turn signals as a brake/running lights is possible but if you're also trying to use them as a turn signals you'll need wiring relays or something like a trailer light black box to sort everything out
 
What if I use them just as signals and have a separate taillight? Can I eliminate just the front signals then without changing all the wiring?

yes if you use a no-load flasher, otherwise the single rear turn bulb won't have enough resistance tp operate the regular flasher unit
 
If I understand, I can remove the fronts and replace the flasher with a no load flasher and that should be it, right? For my knowledge, what is the difference between a no load flasher and the stock flasher?
 
the stock flasher uses the resistance of the bulbs to heat a bimetallic strip betwween a set of points to flash the lights (on/heat off/cool down and repeat) the no-load flasher uses a transister circuit to time flash the light(s) so it doesn't care if you have one or two bulbs it's just doing it's own thing
 
That makes sense. Am I right in thinking that's why the signals will turn on but not flash if the battery is low? Not enough resistance to heat the strip enough to move. So just replace the stock flasher with a no load and we're good to go.
