What did you do with your XS today?

Or something, yes. Another lesson learned. When you stop to gaze at breathtaking scenery it is not a bad plan to ensure that one's footing is firm and that the bike is 90º to the horizontal plane and not 90º to the surface of the land underfoot.

:wtf:

worse is watching your bike flop over in the viewfinder of your camera while taking that "kodak moment" scenic shot :shootme::D Good thing I'm changing the tank this winter...haha

Ha you make falling sound graceful.
Unlike when I hit the triangle of pea gravel on my sr250 last fall, this was agonizingly slow slow-motion ALL the way down.
And back up too, come to think of it. I have to perfect that "lift your bike up in one easy motion" technique.

What did I do to my Maxim today? Lots!
- installed a cellphone mount
- installed a USB power port to charge cell phone (required when using GPS navigation)
- rode it 180 km
- adjusted the pilot screws
- washed it
- polished the chrome
- waxed it
- detailed the wheels
- lubed the chain
- checked tire pressures, lights and oil level

And since the weather is so nice, I might just go for another ride!

Dave

-European style handle bars
-bar end mirrors
-replaced horn

Now if it would only stop raining and warm up a bit......

Over the past couple of days I got J-B Weld and tried to repair the broken clutch lever.
J-B Weld may be okay for repairing a headlight housing, or a drewpy blinker casing (where there is no force applied against the repair) but DO NOT ever try it on something critical to operation or safety.
Looked good, especially when totally concealed by the rubber dust cover but a couple of hours later after about 50 miles of mixed cruising around the "weld" broke. Luckily, I am a pessimist and had the broken tipped spare in the tool bag.
Pic #1 shows it prepped and ready to be welded (even drilled into the break to increase bonding surface)
Pic#2 shows it after curing 2 days
Pic #3 shows it after 50 miles of ops.

I've made a big mess over the past few days. I removed the carb to tighten down the gas fitting and the banjo bolt broke. Not to be outdone by something so small as a bolt with a hole in it, I proceeded to remove the handlebars, guages, front wheel, fender and forks... All in I say! Spring will be here before you know it and I'll be cruisin in style. Til then I've got some work to do.

Indexed the spark plugs on both the 400's. Took the 79 2-f out and it felt like it was running a little smoother but that was about it:shrug: I will have to see what if any changes it has done for the tracker:bike:

replaced stock 12.5" shocks with new 11" shocks to match the 1.5" drop in the front. now it's REALLY HARD to get it up on the center stand. really need to go get a tab welded on so i can attach my NOS side stand.

New pod filters are on (the foam uni's were letting way too much sand/dust in) Also got some new, bigger jets in (colder weather is here and it needed more juice), 45 pilots and bumped the mains from 145 to 150. While in the carbs, cleaned them and installed JBM diaphragms. Funny how these small changes unleashed what feels like another 7-8.5HP:D:bike:

finally got my Ballistic Battery today, need to get a new reg/rec as it charging 15v and will kill it.

Well, since I'm away from my XS400 project, the only thing I can do is shop for it. I picked up a speedo for from xschris (thanks again!) and an XS650 tail hoop just showed up at the house from one of the guys over at TCU.
