FUBAR's Build

just put in the new diaphrams and carb boots, runs like a brand new bike, im going to head out and buy some hose to make a manometer and sync the carbs next.

i would highly suggest anyone who has an xs400 to buy the $19.45 carb diaphrams made from aircarft rubber. night and day difference. ive posted a thread about it on here somewhere. even if your diaphrams appear to have no holes (mine didnt)

i got rid of the squeaking sound my bike was making also.. turns out it was an air leak on the rubber carb holder

are the rules difrent in albert then ontario re putting on a hard tail... ?

I really like how she looks.. thinking of maybe doing that to my 80 special

the kz550 pipes bolted on with no issue ?

very cool build. I was just looking at those carb diaphrams, good to see they work so well, mine don't seem to have any holes either but it couldn't hurt to change them.

im not sure about the ontairo laws, but i know most things are relaxed in alberta as far as that stuff. the kz550 pipes were chopped and welded. i used the old xs400 motorflange parts and some other stuff and the 550s muffler.

lowdiesel, ya i would invest.. based on the simplicity and how well they work its definatly worth the 40 bucks. the throttle blips and comes right back down like a sport bike, did you end up solving the charging issues? i was reading you thread a minute ago... i may have some too, jsut replaced my battery to a sealed type, but we shall see.

cool tip for old shitty looking chrome:
scotch brite pad .

dulls down the blingy-ness and gives it a cool brushed nickel look

Yea gonna order a set this week. Mine revs good and fast anyway but it couldn't hurt as preventative maintence.

Yea i will once i swap out all my old stuff. Gonna put the reg/rect mod in that Pamcopete did the write up on and hopefully i don't have anymore issues. Figured i might as well do it once and be done.
