Had an 80 and well ended up running the H pipe with unis........... worked out great......... both SOHC builds I did I used the H pipe and unis........ even my latest uses the unis...... not sure what it is but the regular pod filters you see I think are junk......

Took it out for its maiden voyage Friday night. Runs good for sitting 5 years. Clutch seems a little week but hoping it gets better with time.

Those kits are awesome....... I have used them on three bikes and no issues at all......... just make sure to use anti seize as ss bolts can be a pita at times.....,

You want to get new sprockets along with the new chain. I would not re use the sprockets.

Problems with the DOHC bikes is finding a tank to fit the backbone of the frame. Also the bike is missing a few parts so hopefully you got the upper motor mounts with it.... I would not start it unless you have them in place.....

Well it lives...................... maybe someday this bike will hit the street................. had the carbs gone through by old school carbs find him over on the XS650 forum............. did a awesome job.............. for shits and giggles I just said F it and added fuel after I hooked up...

Not sure there the most affordable but Revival Cycles in Texas is my go to store for motogadget things...... I have purchased 2 M units from them and also a few other goodies........

Yeah no plug is needed and I think its there so people do not mess with it. I used allen head screws on both of the ones I had to dress it up.

It needs to be drilled out. Be careful not to go to far and hit the screw so you can not back it out with a screwdriver.

Just bight the bullet and get a square tank off an earlier XS....... there out there but will cost you unless you get lucky..... I found one a few years ago for 75 shipped.

I run the T4 in mine with no issues. Plus it works in the KLR I have also....... and its cheap to.

Look for a ninja front end off a 250. The wheels are nice and narrow.............. I have one sitting under the house for a future build......... also the rear swing arm..........

Looks like the norm on bikes that sit in the NW...........should clean up though with some work..........

Good luck......... I did the same thing and those 4 carbs drove me nuts.........had it running great then it sat for 2 months and the gas in the carbs went to shit....... I gave up on the dang thing and sold it.......

check all the wires going to the stator...... common problem is one broken causing issues.

Paint looks great but thought the clear needed to go on before the paint hardens ? wondering as you said you were sanding the color then clear it. I am no pro and have used the 2K clear love it.......... but have always let the paint flash for a little then cleared it then sanded......... last...
