    Check my jetting, please?

Aha! After some World Series googling I found a post from 2013 by you xschris that gives stock jet sizes and they’re exactly what I have. I’ll double check the diaphragms and needles to make sure they’re set correctly and not damaged.

    Check my jetting, please?

    Brass. So 1.024 inches.

    Check my jetting, please?

Idle screws are at 3 turns. I’ll take them in a half turn. Not sure if needles are adjustable but I’ll take a look. I adjusted the floats after looking at a bunch of threads here and a few bs34 specific YouTube videos. Ive only got a standard scale so I set to slightly less than 1.1 inches with...

    Check my jetting, please?

Unfortunately I cleaned the plugs with carb cleaner but they were both equally two stroke black. Bp7es plugs. Carbs are synced but it seems like they’re both just dumping gas in. Been cleaned, new needles, mix screw and o rings, bowl gaskets, air jet plugs. First the left cylinder was not...

    Check my jetting, please?

So my plugs are getting black really fast. I've been searching around and am finding a lot of threads for non-stock 400s whereas mine is straight up stock. I know my float height has been off so I've adjusted that but while I had the carb apart I thought I'd check and see what I have in there...

What did you do with your XS today?

Went for a 10 mile ride with no idle (had to rev at lights) and fouled both plugs. I tried adjusting the float level and now the right cylinder isn’t firing (previously was left side not firing). Im thinking that’s cause I didn’t have new plugs and cleaned the fouled ones hoping they might work...

What did you do with your XS today?

New battery and carb rebuild done. Starts up like a champ and both cylinders are firing! Won’t idle though but I had the mix screws 2.5 turns out. It’s not street legal yet so I can’t really run it to a good operating temp. Moved to 3.5 turns but Nate just hit us so no outside experiments today.

Thanks. It's amazing/annoying how much one little missing piece can mess things up.

What did you do with your XS today?

Soaked and super cleaned the carbs. Full disassembly. Question for y'all... Left cylinder not firing. I found The left carb missing the little o-ring under the mixture screw. Is that enough to cause a misfire?

What did you do with your XS today?

Left cylinder isn't firing. Didn't want to deal with it so I installed new bars and grips.

What did you do with your XS today?

Rode to coffee, ran out of gas, filled gas tank, installed fuel filter. I think my left carb is already clogged. Bike doesn't want to idle anymore.

This XS purrs like a kitten compared to my old thunk thunk 650 single klr! Rode around the hood for a bit yesterday and it feels really close. It pulls like crap in first and second but once I get going past about 30mph it feels like it's got some oomph. Gonna see if I can dial in that...

Yes I've followed the tutorials. Screwed the handlebar adjuster in so there's some slack, then adjusted the locknut/screw down in the case. I'm going to give it a day to marinate then go at it again.

OK the engine itself is running really well with fresh gas and time to warm up. Revs clean, returns to idle quick enough. Not a lot of smoking from the pipes. BUT. I HAVE A CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT PROBLEM. I've searched a lot on this forum and others and haven't seen my issue. Here goes: - When I got...

Well since I'm kind of broke at the moment I just kept the battery on a tender for a week and it slightly revived. Took the petcock apart for a cleaning and I stretched the spring out to renew some tension. No flow with 'on' or reserve, flows on prime so it seems to work correctly again. Sprayed...

Yeah I'll definitely get gravity fed. Good news, the whole motor was gone through sometime last year (by a competent mechanic) so things are probably fine internally.

Hah yeah. Vespas have gravity fed taps and once I kicked mine and a half gallon shot out of my exhaust. Good times.
