So as with most of us here im chasing electrical gremlins.... if i look on a diagram i should be able to jumper the field coil green and black wires directly to the battery do do the razor blade trick....but when i do it pops the main 20amp fuse....thoughts?

Id like to get $500 out of it. Its a clean unmolested bike. Located near myerstown,pa 17067 carbs rebuilt...carb boots replaced. needs stator. I put on a set of yz490 bars but have the originals. I have the title in the previous owners name.

figured i would check in. i managed to pick up an 81 xs400s last year for a mere $300!!! turns out the guy didnt know what he had....all the chrome is in beautiful shape...it runs but not great...the carb boots are shot. got new ones comming. and its only got 6200 original miles on it. it...

got an 81 xs400s that is in VERY nice shape that the PO managed to drop at a stop sign. so i'm looking for a straight headlight bracket with good chrome and a nice clear rear turn signal lens.
