What did you do with your XS today?

Took the tarp off it.I took off the tank before winter knowing ice comes down from the roof, but no other place to line up my 4 junkers. It did survive the winter (so far but haven't tried starting) a turn signal is snapped off from falling ice. I'm still figuring out how to get it titled and...

7th 8th and 9th digit not on sticker

I found a site that lets you figure out the 9th number by mathamatical equation mader by DMV. Yamaha did not tell me this. With the 7th and 8th spot filled with Zeros (thanks shep) I did the equation with the times and dividing it tells me to do. I came up with this. J Y A 1 4 V 0 0 (...

7th 8th and 9th digit not on sticker

Thank you all for the information. I called Yamaha to see if they could fill in the blanks. They said they purge the system every 10 years and could not help. 7th 8th and 9th is the missing spots. According to Shep it's 00 there. I'm just missing the 9th. I'll go to DMV with the pics I have of...

    rewire how to

I figured it out. For some reason, until today, your color chart was too distorted to read. Red and brown is what I was after. Now I'm onto the carb issue. I made a video of me addressing it. Now thinking about it, maybe my float is set too high. Thanks for the help. I found the wiring...

7th 8th and 9th digit not on sticker

Thy guy I bought it from didn't do the work. The back end has struts welded in place of the shocks.looks to be a decent job done.Tire looks wore even.If it had ever been run as a hardtail. DSC07699 by carzngitarz, on Flickr

    rewire how to

Drewpy. Do you know if the factory colors are the same on an 1981 SR185 ? This chopper has the original harness but half the stuff is not connected. I jumped the solenoid and it did spin over but no spark at the plug yet.[/IMG]

My letter to the Better Business Bureau

very true. It does help people to see they are not the only ones that have been dealt a bad hand. I was just getting back into bikes and figured I needed a harley . Obviously my thoughts on that have changed. That 77 customized sporty was beautiful, engine ran great when it wasn't suddenly dying...

7th 8th and 9th digit not on sticker

I have an 83 650 also. that one is on the road, needs a new front tire. I really dig the 400's size and look.I had a zuki gs 450 before the 650 and it really handled well.when I got the 650 it took some getting used to to make tight corners.the length and extra weight really impedes cornering...

7th 8th and 9th digit not on sticker

that's what I'm hoping. To fill in the blanks with the knowledge given. even then, the cutoff of using a pic or tracing in ny is 1973. after that, no title no deal. Unless I can use a friend in another state to register with the numbers given, and have the title sent back to me.or maybe a salvage...

My letter to the Better Business Bureau

I've met a dingleberry or two over the years either buying or getting a vehicle fixed. My biggest problem is buying vehicles with no papers or readable vin. I get too excited and blinded by the beauty of a classis car or bike I can actually afford and forget to look. No papers? no big deal, just...

I think he said it's a 1980 or 81. I notice the over 55 and up is red (well pink now) that's a sure signal of Reagan era gas saving measures. I guess the spokes made me think it's older. I got a couple side covers that are in the pile of parts. One says heritage Special. So' like my 83 650 they...

I'm really not sure what exactly this bike is. I got no title with it and the sticker is half gone. frame and engine numbers match, but not 17 numbers are showing. it's missing a few. I might have to part it out or look for a titled frame..shame, I like the bike.I would have left shocks on it...
