HELP: Can i make a complete motor from these two?

if the original engine was replaced I would guess, there was a reason ;-) As Drewpy said, the crankcase is a pair but of course you can put the cylinders from one engine to the other. The cylinder head is machined as pair (head and cover) as well. The cylinders are of the same size, Yamaha...

    Highest Mileage XS400/Maxim/Seca?

Sorry, no rollover to offer. I got only 84.000 km on my XS . They should be true, I own it since 1992 (with a short break of 2000 km).

    Phantom/False Neutral

I got this problem on all of my XS-engines. I got the third one running at the moment. And that one was open last winter, there were no signs of wear or something else suspicious on the sprockets or shift forks. I think the trick is to shift up more carefully.

What did you do with your XS today?

inspected my race-style XS for the new season today. The rear wheel flies like prayer flags in Nepal. Needs new swing arm bushings:(

Holy Grail of XS400 Big Bore Pistons

You can use those pistons. Sanglas used the XS400 engine in the Sanglas 400Y http://www.ebay.de/itm/150989938326?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT The mentioned german supplier is...

Can I powder coat rear hub?

I can ask if I see them next time but that might take some weeks or month. It is winter :-( Time to hide in a garage. I think it is possible to press them out. If you got the necessary tools:D

Can I powder coat rear hub?

These are the parts you are talking about (new) I guess it is difficult to remove them without destroying them. The metal cylinder is shrinked in and there is no place to use an extracting tool. I think it is easiest to get out the rubber first and then carefully cut the cylinder wall. Anyway...

Café from the heart of Europe (intro & build)

Most of the costumers here use SR or RD wheels. I was lucky to get a frontwheel from the US and a rear hub from someone on the german board.:D

Help! Too new to an XS to help myself

The 392 on the top end is interesting. I only know the 391 as Chris wrote. The early Yamaha documents say 392, for XS400D for example. Haynes says 392 in the front and 391 in the extra capter in the end:D I guess there was a measuring eror somewhere:eek: Could you post a picture of the...

Help! Too new to an XS to help myself

No, not German market. I found a list on the internet some time ago. Maybe Japan? I just copied a "1M0 XS250C 1976". Edit: The XS250 is missing in the Haynes US model list;-) The crankcase might be not 100% the same. I am not sure. On the early XS360 the hole for the cylinders was a bit...

    broke carb emergency

How are you guys trying to get the pin out? I found out long ago that it is a stupid idea to use pliers (I broke a carb too). I think it is best to use a small hammer and nail and drive it out carefully. My broken carb: I drilled a hole into the lower part and fixed the pin with a...
