gas tank

I recently learned that my current gas tank on my '82 Maxim is starting to rust. I'm looking into replacing it, but have mostly found '81 tanks online. Would the '79-'81 tanks fit on the '82? I just want to be sure before purchase. I've included an image of the bike in question below:

This tank is very rusty but I think could be cleaned out and used again. I know tanks are hard to come by, so if someone wants to put some work and a ton of vinegar in this thing, it might be worth it. It was on a bike with no gas cap for a year, so it had water running through it for a while...

I recently purchased a '77 XS400, it didn't come with a gas tank, what are my options? I know the stock square tanks are pretty hard to get so I don't really need one. I'm trying to keep it under $100+shipping. Thanks for any info
