Does anyone remember loosing oil though the Clutch rod seal? After the first hundred miles on the bike, i did notice some leaks, but it seams after changing out the sprocket, that the majority of the oil may be being leaked out the OD seal on the clutch rod. Originally I thought it might come...
One of the biggest things i had to decide on my bike was what type or style of handle bars to go with that would match the look of the bike. Also getting fid of the bulky factory controls. I searched everywhere and couldn't really find any threads that were just about different style bars on...

Yep. Got most of the mechanical issues worked out and then sent her up north for my father to do a rewire over the course of a month or so. She needs a new seat upholstered though, after about an hour of riding it's hard to even remove myself from the bike :( But I am happy she is home and...
Awesome vimeo of our long Vintage ride to San Pedro, the day Motor Trend came to film and photograph us all riding south. The weather changed from sun to gray to sun again.

Well when I first got her she was rusty, corroded and not running. Cleaned up the carbs, changed the oil, spent MANY hours with the children trying to get her to shine and this is what I end up with. enjoy!

Howdy!
Thanks to all of you, I am back in business. Here are some pics of my ride.
The weather here at 9000ft has been awesome the last week and I have been out riding every day.
I wish I had some pics of it the day I got it, but I don't.
It was nasty chipped black with a stock seat and...
I've been getting tired of using a backpack all of the time for storing my extra gear and the random things that I need to buy. Some people just don't trust you when you go into a store with an empty backpack! Just curious about everyone else' solution to this situation. Post your pics...
Her name is Ellie! enjoy. :) I would recommend this exhaust system to everyone and anyone bc it sounds great and takes no rejetting. For gators also make it look old school "euro" I'll have a pic or vid of my mirrors whenever they get here to.
Hi all,
Long time reader, First time poster ....
So i've bought a 82 xs400r off ebay a few weeks ago "complete" but pulled apart as the ole fella had a heart attack and couldn't put it back together, so a few 10min sessions at a time, or until i crack the sads or start swearing, whichever...
I introduced myself in a previous post and have been lurking in the background gathering info from this site. I have a build thread on another site but I wanted to share my nearly completed (yeah right) 78 xs400 Cafe Racer with you guys. Great site BTW, lots of priceless info to be had here...
Here is my first project, I'm feeling lazy so I'm just copying and pasting from another forum post.
Not reallt sure you can consider a bike a bobber if your fabricating over half of the frame, So I guess this one would be considered a chopper.
As she sat as of 3:30 today...
I really like my 79 that turned out to be an 80, but it has funny paperwork with it. What to do? Get another with clean papers. So here it is....the 82 Heritage Special. Mostly all there, no grab bar and a few trinkets, but fair tires and it's a runner. Starts on the first kick so far, the...
Hi there, just treated myself to a sunny day bike for Xmas - not that we get any where i live !! I bought it from a garage that specialises in restorations with the intention to turn it into a cafe-racer or flat tracker but am now thinking otherwise as the bike is immaculate, Matching frame and...
