Hello everyone! I recently picked up a very complete and original 1977 XS360. It has been well loved but was in need of a full general tune up. I did carb clean, fork seals, cleaned up and refreshed the clutch and brake systems, timing, valves, tires on the way, etc. I have fully restored a 1973 Honda CB350G and was pleasantly surprised that most everything was very similar to that bike, which made for a quick turnaround!
On to the fun part... The bike would run, but not great. Found out that the float in the right carb had gas in it. First instinct was to buy a couple of new replacement floats but was disappointed to find that the best listing was a European company that would charge $45 for shipping. I tried to fix the float by getting the gas out then using some JB Tankweld to seal it up, but it has started leaking again a few days later. What is my best bet for getting some new reproduction carb floats? The service manuals I've been referencing show that the XS360 and XS400 both have Mikuni BS34 carbs, but I've also seen people saying the floats are not interchangeable. Just looking for some guidance on how to get this bike back on the road. It was running all the way through the rpms perfectly when my float repair was working but I don't think that will be a long term solution.
