1982 XS400 Maxim Electrical Issue?

Hi All, I have a 1982 XS400 Maxim which has been giving me an intermittent issue I can't seem to solve. Whenever the bike sits for a while, I can start it up and drive but it will shut off randomly while driving. The only solution is to turn the bike all the way off, wait a bit, and restart it. This doesn't happen when the bike has been regularly ridden, and happens more frequently the long it sat. Any ideas? I have already bypassed the kickstand switch.
