I have a '80 XS400 Special with the mag rear wheel, stock tire size is 120/90-16.
According to Kawatriple, the smallest tire I can fit on the stock rear rim width of 2.5" is a 3.25-16.
I was looking at doing a scrambler style bike over time. I found a couple of 3.50-16 rear tires that would fit the bill, however did not know if anyone has any experience with going that much smaller of a tire.
The next closest size that would be a similar tread I would have to go up to a Duro Hf904 in 130/90-16 but have read mixed results regarding clearance. In Maine I need stock chain guard to pass inspection, and it seems most have removed it to get proper clearance. Also loss of suspension travel is not ideal.
