Hi does anyone have any info about replacing the standard needle on a BS34 for a 1980 4G5? I was hoping to be able to drop it by a notch but know this can’t be done on the standard needle. TIA

I am not absolutely certain what the stock needle on a 4G5 bike looks like, but if it is not adjustable like the US spec bikes of that year, you might be able to raise the needle by shimming it up by adding a very thin washer where the needle inserts into the slide. Worth a look and certainly easier than sourcing a different needle.
a little tip I got from captain chrome. take the plugs out ,clean them up.drive the bike at mid open throttle between 4 to 5000 revs for about six miles.dont exceed 5000 rpm.take the plugs out and check them.sooty black plugs drop the needle .lean looking plugs raise the needle .tanny brown plugs ,the needle dosnt need moved .worked for me .
I did change the air filters to larger ones.then had to go up one on the main jet and raise the needle 2 clip positions.
