I am doing a restore on my 1982 XS400J Maxim. I’ve started disassembling the front disk brake caliper. The piston was infamously stuck but fortunately popped out with some air pressure. Once cleaned it looks almost brand new, ….thankfully. The bore is really ugly with debris but I am thinking of using an ultrasonic cleaner to clean out the seal’s grooves by submerging the whole caliper.

Also, I’d like to take apart the (what I believe are sliders) to clean them. See the attached picture with my fingers pointing to the “sliders”.

Have others taken their calipers apart to tell me how to remove the “sliders”. It looks like there is a nut on one of them (the one at my pinky finger). Does that just get backed out and presumably they both are able to be removed?

Ok I understand, the slider side of the caliper,… pulls out. It is free to move (freedom of movement is necessary for the system to work). No need to unbolt anything.
I’m going to clean and lubricate the two pins. I’m not sure what should be used yet. It is some kind of grease. I’ll find out and post back. The rubber boots have done a great job of stopping any water or contaminates from getting to the pins. They’re is good condition and there’s no need to replace.

Lots of brand choices but looks like a high temperature silicone based lubricant will work fine for slide pins
