Hey All! What a great site for all of the XS400 fanatics out there! Hey, I am going to "Cafe-Out" my '80 XS400 Special and am curious as to what others are doing with the front end. Are most leaving the stock forks on or is there a known front end from another bike that seems to be working well? What about lowering the forks?

Any help is greatly appreciated. I hope to get started on this project for the Minnesota winter hits!:bike:

Hey All - Thanks much for the great information and replies. Ya, I would consider using upside down forks but will probably pay for them $$$$. I am also curious about using more "traditional" older forks that could be shortened perhaps...???

Again, thanks for all the great info!

Aprilia RS125 forks are quite popular here. But there should be answered some questions. If you want to stay with old front wheel or if you want to run aprilia wheel or different one...if you want to stay with speedo drive etc. It's quite easy to put these forks on (only lower stem bearing should be changed) but you have to deal with other problems (front wheel and brake...) - here you will definitely need some machining.

Shortening stock forks should be possible...but I have no experience with this kind of mods. Maybe other forum members...
