ok. so i went to put the red O-ring around my Cylinders today while rebuilding it, and i cant firgure out if i should push it in the groove or keep it ourside and let it go in there when i torque it down. when i tried pushing it in, the it went in, but there was a ton op play and slack and the rest wouldnt go it. possibily a stupid question, but i gotta know. thanks guys.

might have been stretched, I'd try and put it in first. Maybe a tiny bit of sealant to keep it there!

are there any timing marks on the crankshaft to line it up with the cam? haynes says nothing about it on the crank, so how would a make sure timing is correct?

none for the clutch, just to make sure the machining codes are both the same. They mention the back lash gap.
turn crank till LT mark is showing with the alternator cover on. the left piston will now be at TDC
camshaft sprocket needs its 2 "pips" at 12 o' clock (one on the camshaft outer and the other on the cam sprocket)
