Hey group.
I’ve got a ‘77 XS360 and a ‘79 XS400F, both are front and rear disk brake machines. Got the 360 a couple of years ago, and recently acquired the ‘79 thinking “Parts”. However, despite the fact that someone butchered the back of the seat frame off, and gobbed a bunch of welding rod around the upper shock mounts, I may fabricate struts for a sportster rear fender and get them welded to the frame by my local fab shop who can also clean up the previous “welds” and add a flat cross brace between them (which was cut off!!!).
Both bikes, as a matter of due diligence, will have the forks drained, inspected, refurbished as required including fork seals, dust boots, etc.
Looking on the Parts N More website, they list two pairs of seals, one for ‘77-‘81, size 33x46x11, and one set for ‘77-‘82, size 33x46x10.5/11. What’s with the difference in thickness on the one set?
